Ordered this last week to make Irish Soda , Wheaten & Potato Farls .
It’s a heavy quality cast iron griddle. The Farls are soooooooo good made on this griddle. Taste way better than the bakery ones. Comes already treated with oil to give a ” non Stick” type of surface.
All you do out of the box is , step 1.rinse under medium hot water with a soft brush or sponge thingy ,
( no washing up liquid please) dry it . Step 2 Rub some sunflower oil on the cooking surface , low to med heat and off you go. When finished , repeat Step 1 to clean , re-oil the whole griddle sparingly and store it until next time.
Cast Iron has always been best for even heat distribution accross the cooking surface.
Much healthier than toxic aluminium too.

|Perfect chapatis!,
We bought this griddle because, try as we might, we could not make good chapatis. They always ended up too crispy. Not any more – with a nice sticky dough, thinly rolled, this griddle makes a perfect chapati which can be folded into quarters “just like in an Indian restaurant”. It gets much hotter than a frying pan and obviously has just the right surface for cooking them. The handle gets pretty hot, but this isn’t surprising as it is made from cast iron. Silicone handle protectors are easily available.
(I must own up – when I say “we” above, I should really have said “my wife”!)

I own one of these It is a superbly simple device. Perfect for “Pancakes” & Drop scones. Easy to clean just a green dish sponge and hot water and it’s done. Good gear this Lodge stuff. All that I own works superbly but it does need seasoned properly. Info available via ” Google”. Enjoy it. Good value for your money – Should last forever and a day.
